Town of Somo 5-Year Road Plan 2024-2029
Based on June 4, 2024 Road Inspection Tour
The Town of Somo is required to have a 5-year road plan. This plan prioritizes which roads may have maintenance in the future. This priority list is updated periodically and is used for planning, budgeting, and applying for funding grants.
This document is for planning purposes. If a road is listed, it does not necessarily mean that the road will be updated by any specific date. Funding and other factors could change the order of priority within the categories as determined by the Town Board during the 5-year timeframe.

How towns develop their 5-year plans
- Local Responsibility: Town and village boards are responsible for creating their own plans to guide decisions on local transportation infrastructure. · Basis for the plan: Plans are typically based on factors like road inspections, the PASER rating system (which rates pavement condition), traffic volume, and the history of road deterioration.
- Included Work: Plans may cover a range of projects, including routine maintenance and larger construction projects:
- Maintenance: Crack sealing, pothole repairs, ditch mowing, and sign repairs.
- Construction: Road resurfacing, reconstruction, and structure replacement.
- Purpose: The plan serves as a guide for future budgets and for applying for state and federal funding grants.
